Glazing film with cut-outs of whales, streaks of colour, a suitcase with 30 diaries and a key to the images.

The glazing film: 420 × 125 cm

Description

A “Large Glass” the height of the Bremen whale painting was suspended over a suitcase full of diaries – a life’s work in a valise. The images of whales on the glass, swimming backwards and forwards in a blue/green ocean, are labelled with the dates of Whale Sightings. In the key placed by the side of the suitcase, the image of each species is given the name of a 'whale of an artist'.The largest, the Blue Whale represents Marcel Duchamp, who died the year Ann graduated from Bath Academy of Art. Her course was set across the great ocean of life when she travelled to Stuttgart to work with Hansjörg Mayer.
